About The Project
Գրիր Հայերեն [Grir Hayeren] is a Total spelling test in Armenian language, which is maintained by activists of Armenian Regional Youth Association of St. Petersburg
The annual initiative aims to preserve the Armenian language and unite those who want to improve their Armenian writings skill.
The Total Dictation is both a great opportunity and motivation to master one's Armenian language.
It is vital to be literate!

The texts of the Dictation are sourced from Armenian literature, making the event a cultural one as well.
The Dictation is conducted both in person and online, making it accessible to people from different countries, thereby elevating the dictation to an international level.
Any Armenian-speaking person can participate in the Dictation.

FAQ
To participate in the Dictation, please sign up on your Personal Account. After registration, you will receive an identification number, which is necessary for completing the task. This number will be sent to the email address you provided. You can take the dictation either online (on the website) or offline one of our partner's locations.
On the day of the Dictation, at the scheduled time, a live stream will be available in your Personal Account on the 'Online Dictation' page, along with a button to download your results. You will need to write the text on the form, entering your identification number at the top. Additionally, you can download our official blank from this page.
Depending on the number of participants, it can take up to two weeks to check the papers.
To find out your results, please visit your Personal Account and navigate to the «Results» tab. Once the papers have been graded, you will be able to check your results under your unique identification number.
The first grade indicates the number of spelling errors, and the second grade indicates the number of punctuation errors.
A mark of «5» (excellent) will be awarded for the following variations in the spelling/punctuation ratio:
• 0/0 (spelling/punctuation);
• 0/1 (i.e. 1 punctuation error is allowed).
A mark of «4» will be awarded for the following variations in the spelling/punctuation ratio:
• 0/[2-5];
• 1/[1-4];
• 2/[0-2].
A mark of «3» will be awarded for the following variations in the spelling/punctuation ratio:
• 0/[6-8];
• 1/[5-7];
• 2/[3-6];
• 3/[0-5];
• 4/[0-4].
Each mistake counts as one. If there are several spelling mistakes in one word based on different rules, they are considered as separate mistakes. Two or more errors in vocabulary words are counted as one mistake.
If a word is repeated in the dictation several times and an error is made each time, it is counted as one error. Other errors are not grouped.
Scoring 0,5 points for «non-serious» errors is not used, as the criteria for classifying errors as non-serious are unclear.
Any punctuation or spelling error counts as one error.
